Absolutely, there are many parents who do not speak with their children about the facts. It's important that children know the facts, especially since today their very life may depend upon it. Parents should still discuss things with their kids at home, but society has an obligation to educate children and arm them with the facts.

Howdy Jemeul : Here is one answer to your question. One approach to sex education is to view it as necessary to reduce risk behaviors such as unprotected sex,and equip individuals to informed decisions about their personal sexual activities.Another viewpoint on sex education, inspired by sexologists such as William Reich and psychologists like Sigmund Freud and James W.Prescott, holds that what is at stake with sex education is control over the body and liberation from social control (I especially concur with this opinion.) Proponents of this view tend to see the political question as whether society or not the individual should teach sexual mores.Sexual education may thus be seen as providing individuals with the knowledge necessary to liberate themselves from socially organized sexual oppression and to make up their own minds. In addition, sexual ignorance may be viewed as socially harmful. yes, because at that age, people learn about sex anyways, and they want kids to be prepared to make the right choices if peer pressured into it or to avoid it altogether. better safe than sorry!
