I have wondered this...but I've been wondering that for as long as I can remember, so it's nothing really new. We don't know when it'll happen and it may not happen for a very, very long time. So why spend time worrying over something we can't control ? Just try to enjoy the good things in life while you can because you never know when it'll be over.

So many things could happen to end the world in a second. I heard that if the sun "went out" or imploded or whatever they do, we wouldn't know for about 8 minutes (that's how long it takes light to travel to earth). Many people think that in 2012 the world is going to end because that's the end of the Mian calander, and others thing a comet is going to hit the earth in the 2030s and end most life. I seriously doubt it.
This world has existed with life on it for billions of years (I think). Statistically the chances of something happening to end the world in our lifetime is probably worse than winning the lotto 5 times consecutively.
Regardless, if the world were to end, what's the use of running for your life??? I doubt you can escape that fate ;-). If I knew the world was going to end tomarrow at 2 PM, I'd take the day off, grab a 12 pack and my girl, and sit out there in lawn chairs with a front row seat. You spend your entire life worrying about dying and you'll never experiance living.

According to the Bible, the world won't end for at least another 1000 years. The first thing that will happen is the rapture, also known as "Christ's return." That's when every true Christian will be wisked away to be with God. Everyone else will remain here for the time being. No one knows when this will happen-not even Christ Himself. Only the Father knows. The rapture marks the beginning of a seven year "tribulation" period. That's when God gives everyone one last chance to make the decision to accept His gift of salvation. However, this will be very hard for people because a one world government will form. Out of it, the anti-Christ. Bibles will be taken from people and destroyed. This one world government will instruct new Christians to renounce the name of Jesus Christ or be killed. Renouncing His name and siding with that of the one world government is considered taking the "mark of the beast." Toward the latter half of the seven year tribulation period, God will begin pouring out His judgements on the world. However, Christians won't be harmed. It will, however, be horrific for anyone who doesn't place their faith in Christ. After the tribulation, there's the "1000 year reign." I don't know too much about that-don't recall whether it's the reign of God or Satan. At any rate, following that 1000 year reign, God and Satan duke it out. The earth is then destroyed as well as part of Heaven. Satan is banished into the abyss, at which time God creates a new earth and either the part of Heaven that will be destroyed or the entire thing. Not sure about that either.
So, this is why I say the world won't end for at LEAST another 1000 years and that's going on the assumption that the rapture happens at this very moment. If I were you, i wouldn't worry too much about it. Neither of us will be around to witness it-at least not in this life. God tells us we have nothing to fear. Have you tried praying about your concerns? Btw, you can find all of this information in the books of Luke and Revelation in the Bible.

If anybody actually listens to the scientists, and I think we bury our head in the sands blown over us by the politicians, positive estimates bring about "the end of the world as we know it" at about 100 years away. Less positive estimates suggest that the world we know is in terminal decline, unless we take extreme actions, now.
I won't be here to see who is right, but I've looked at all the points of view, and tend towards the view of the pessimists.
Thank goodness, unless I live to an extremely old age, I won't begin to see the rises in sea level, the extension of deserts, and the fighting for habitable land that will result from our generations of pillage of the planet.
Many of you will.
You have my sympathy.

It depends what you mean by SOON... and it depends what you mean by END.
I think the sphere we walk upon will circle the Sun for a few million years to come.
Whether human beings will still exist in 500 years: who knows. It depends on the collective stupidity of the species and their elected officials. If humans become extinct within the next 10,000 yrs it will be due to human mistakes...
As for running for our lives: where to? I'd rather stand and speak my peace... hoping it might inspire others.

How do you define the word "soon"? What difference is it going to make even if it was going to end now and where would you run? We all die at some point in time.

The world is going to end in approximately 5 billion years when the sun go's nova. Humans on the other hand are going to cause their own extinction any day now if they do not start using their brains.

No, I don't. I believe our golden era just started. It's a thing called globalization. Nations today are all inter-dependent on one another. They no longer want to meet on battlefield, instead, they meet in market place. Peace and prosperity marks the beginning of the 21st century. Thank God.

Society as a whole is in its infancy… the treble twos… Society has tons and tons of learning what not to do before all become pure physical Love and God evolves into non-physical Love and physical Love in one sphere. God is Love & that’s all there is. We will be that sphere of Love.
