I have an indoor azalea. It just started to flower, but then the petals and leaves have wilted and are falling off. I don't think it is going to bloom now. What can I do with it? I live in the northeast, where it is to cold to plant it outside. Any thoughts?

"florist azaleas" are not really meant to be grown outdoors, especially in zone 6 and cooler but I have head of successes in these climates brought by repotting and bringing outside for the summer. Leave it outside right until fall, when temperatures start to fall to just above freezing. It wouldn't hurt to fertilize (1/5 dose of what ever is recommended on the bottle - Miracle-Grow seems to work well).

When the frost arrives bring it inside. Look for buds to start forming around November. With a little luck you may have flowers right through the holidays.

Azaleas require constant moisture but not sogginess. It may have died from drying out. You can wait until danger of frost is gone in your area and try to plant it then .Good luck and may you get what you need.

It is either over or under watered. Lift the pot. Light = dry, aerate and water. Heavy = wet, allow to dry out.
