The two types are emission and absorption. Emission spectra come from when an element is heated and gives off a specific spectra. Absorption is when an element absorbs the light from another heated source. This causes dark lines in the spectrum that are the same lines as when the element is heated.

A spectra is a group of waves. The electromagnetic spectrum includes very small waves like cosmic and gamma, Xray, ultraviolet, visable light, infrared, microwave, radio, TV, and very large electric waves.
These are distinguished by frequency and wavelength
All travel at the speed of light,
and follow speed=wavelength x frequency.
intensity is the amplitude of the wave or brightmess
