The Eastern church did not recognise the Pope as the head of the entire church, but as one of five patriarchs that were all of equal authority.

Eastern Churches are orthodox churches and are much more literal in their interpretation of the Bible.

Western Churches consist of the Roman Catholic Church and the numerous Protestant churches.

During the crusades they were actually not very fond of each other and almost viewed each other as different religions....
