I don't think you can after the divorce is final. Even if you did get that support, you would have to report that income to the government & they could possibly deduct some of your check anyway. Not to mention the other services you may be getting help through. Child support would be different as in getting it after the divorce unless there was some paperwork you signed that freed him from paying any child support. Again, that could affect your government check also.

My understanding is if you are already divorced and are not receiving spousal support then no you cannot go back and now ask for it.
I was told to ask for a dollar for spousal support in the event that my disability wasn't enough to survive on.
You should be able to call and ask a question without being charged.
Good Luck

ONLY if the disability was something incurred while she was married to the ex... but usually that only works if there was a common dependent in the mix (child) who needed to be continually cared for.
Now, if the ex CAUSED the disability, there's a whole new game of "File that Suit".

I'm sorry, but I don't think that you can. Once the divorce is over, that's pretty much it. Call and speak with a lawyer tho, he/she might know a loophole. Good luck.

Are they already divorced, with an agreement and all that? If so no, the divorce agreement was made you can't go back and change it later. Any agreement previously arranged is final. Period.

One needs to call and ask SS or the welfare office if one is getting medicaid and food stamps. One may not get the money because they may take the money topay themselves back for monies given to you............check it out!
