Statistically flying is about the safest way to travel. Many more people die or are seriously injured in cars than on planes. When a plane crashes its news because it happens so infrequently. It takes a mighty big car crash to make national news.

It's WAY safer. Don't be nervous. There are less plane crashes per year than there are car accidents. You're more afraid to fly, because when you drive, you're in control. If you're feeling nervous, ask to talk to the pilot, and get a good feel for what you're expiriencing. I had my first flight a few months ago, and I LOVED IT!!!! It felt no different than riding in a car. Don't worry about it too much. I used to be the same. My motto was "If your car stalls out, it's not gonna fall out of the sky is it?" But that's changed. Good Luck, you'll be fine. ^_^

Mile for mile approximately 7 times safer to fly. I'd much rather fly even if it is crowded and uncomfortable. You also spend so much less time than in a car.

In my honest opinion, I don't think one is safer than the other. Whatever could possibly happen in a plane can also happen on the road. If I'm going to crash, I would rather be on the ground...

Yes, statistically and because being a pilot is a full-time job so pilots take flying more seriously than someone who is driving and talking on their cellphone.
