heres the thing, in the play there are two stage managers. i am one and there is another who is a year younger than me. he has done nothing for the play and keeps goofing off back stage and blaming the noise on others. hes one of the main problems. anyways, hes getting credit for doing stuff 4 the play when im doing everything!!!! somehow i just cant bring myself to tell the directors. i dont kno wut to say and honestly maybe im being a control freak and not letting him do things but it always seems like when he asks wut to do he gets in the way. pleez help. many ppl said i should tell the directors. the first play is tomorrow. is it too late?

Ur problem is ur to busy with work
n ur a Perfectionist.
Perfectionist r hard workers n creative.
They always starve 4 quality work not 4 credits n ego.
Thats why other's play smart games with them by turning their quality of need for hard & good work into their weakness and take undue advantages.

I have gone so many traumatic pains in my life n my very close friends took undue advantages of me.

Now u do sumthing like this :

Talk to him that u may not b available 4 the moment becoz of certain solid reason n he has 2 manage evrything on his own but dont tell this 2 directors ; instead dont tell this to that man if any1 is around, talk 2 him alone n while conversation try to ctrl ur ctrl freakness. never show him u need the attention.becoz ur play is 2morrow chances r he wud not b ready 2 take charge on such a short notice. If he denies make it clear 2 him that he shud stay away n stop talking 2 him (this is pressure building technique n always works). Try 2 show him as u needed his help n being a partner if he cant help u so u dont need him around.

If u already had made all arrangements n think ur absence cud make him better 2 earn good name on ur cost try sumthing different :

Control everything n Let him do sumthing which he doesn't want 2 do.
OR

Keep him busy with continuos jobs where he wont get a second to spend free.

Try things like this but make sure
1) he shud b busy always.
2) Always remember ur Directors r not blind they cud see everything n everyone thats why they r called directors & ur a stage manager.
Thanx.

he should have had free reign from the start to do as much as you have, you stiffled his creativity, a play is a work of art, it's not about efficiency, you need to do something else in life.
