I took pleasure in reds answer. To ultimately tale control of your dreams, you have to {truly} accept the fact that this too, is a dream. This very thing that many regard as reality is in itself, a fantasy. Many things that take place in a dream are actions that occur in a parallel dimension. In your dream, try and ask the day, or the time. Or even ask what planet you are on. things could get quite interesting. as far as sexually, try thinking about having an unexpected encounter. Someone you may never date in this life. Right before bed. Get drunk off of the thought.

It's called Lucid Dreaming.
There are many different approaches you can use to gain control. Until you become skilled in recognizing you are dreaming, try looking for "dream symbols", they will help you realize within your dream, that you are dreaming.
This is all to be done when you are dreaming, it will take time controling even this, but soon it will become easy!
One could be looking at a watch or clock. Look at the time, look away, then look back. The number will have changed and you will then become lucid. Or look at the writing somewhere, it could be on paper, a billboard, wall...after you have looked away then back at it, it tends to change. Another symbol you are dreaming.
If you notice strange things around you, force yourself to accept you are dreaming. Whether it be creatures, flying, ghosts, or any strange occurances...when you notice these try to clear your mind and accept you are dreaming.
It's really all about noticing you are dreaming and from there you can take control. These are a few things I do.
Once you become Lucid and attempting to control your dreams can be tough too, so depending on what you want to happen, it may take time as well.
But when you become lucid, there are many more things you can do other than just controlling your dreams. You can have an out of the body experience (OBE) or even dreamwalk!
It takes time to get full control so be patient and it will happen!
It also might help if you repeatedly tell yourself throughout the day, every day, that you WILL have a lucid dream tonight.

I've been able to control my dreams since I was like 4 or 5, when I had a dream about snakes, and I was in my dream as a detective and I felt like I was scared and I didn't want to dream about it anymore, so me - the detective me in my dream - looked up into my face and said "Wake up!" and I did. It's not really something that you can learn... I guess.... Just think about something you'd like to begin with when you're trying to fall asleep. Nothing too sexual or else you won't be able to sleep, but something to start you off on a plot, and practise trying to alter your dreams. The key is to have your mind realize that you are dreaming... it's hard when it's like you're along for the ride or watching a movie, you know when you wake up and you remember your dream and you know you were dreaming but you're not sure if while it was happening you were aware that it was a dream.....? Make yourself aware. It takes practise, but don't get bummed if you can't do it, I don't think a lot of people can.

oh i used to lucid dream all the time. so cool it was. i used to turn everything into an orgy! tally ho! anyways.. usually i could do it becos suddenly in the dream i had an inkling i was dreaming...so once you have established that just do everything you want cos noone will ever know..hehehe. also you might want to establish some kind of code with yourself for nightmares..like a wake up switch..i usally do that too..or i just wake up cos noone likes being chased by monsters right? before you go to sleep every night try saying to yourself..if i have nightmare i will do this.(whatever you want) to leave..and i will try to realise i am dreaming.. the point is to get accross to your subconscious what you are wanting and when you eventually communicate this your subconscious will look out for you. trance work may help as well. communication is the difficulty with subconscious so keep at it

Start with the first step. This first step is probably the hardest, yet once you do it, your dreams will become easy to direct.
Your only goal at this time is to see your hands or feet in your dream. When you can do this any time you want, then you can start to interact directly with your dreams.
