Oh, yes, I can relate to that. Our children were 18, 15, and 12 and I had been on birth control pills for 11 years when I found out I was pregnant. I can't really say what kind I was on, that was soooo long ago, but Ortho Tricyclen does sound right! I had been having some stomach trouble and my doctor diagnosed me with Irritable Bowel Syndrome. When I went in for my yearly physical, she did my pelvic exam and commented on how my cervix felt like I was pregnant. We both had a good laugh over that one (haha) and she explained that several things could cause my cervix to present as pregnant. But...just to rule it out first, I had to pee in a cup to have a pregnancy test done. I nearly fell naked off the exam table when the nurse brought in the positive pregnancy results. My doctor was still not convinced I could possibly be pregnant and decided to use the fetal heart beat monitor. Shock was registered on her face as well as mine when we heard that baby heart beat as clear as a bell. The pills had caused me to continue to have periods so we had no idea how far along I was. She sent me for an ultrasound and it was totally unbelievable that I was already 17 weeks along and I had NO clue what-so-ever that I was pregnant. So, now we are parents to 4, ages 27, 25, 22, and 9. Our oldest is married and expecting our first grandbaby next month. A unique family to be sure, but I wouldn't have it any other way. It keeps people guessing when we all go out together - you can see the wheels turning trying to figure out how we are related! Doesn't make it any easier that our oldest daughter and our surprise baby daughter are spitting images of each other.

I have gotten pregnant twice while on Ortho Tri Cyclen. The first time was because I was also using amoxicillan after having a tooth removed. The second time it just didn't work. Both times it was exactly two months after starting. My daughters are now 3 and 5 years old. I have been using the nuvaring since October and it has been working just fine.

Yes I got pregnant when I was on Ortho ? My periods were always screwed up and never on time. I was four months pregnant when we took the test because I started to gain weight. After my son was born I breast fed and then went on ta different ortho dose and 51 weeks later here came our daughter. So to say the least the ortho products are less than 98% effective more like50% Good luck to you with the baby they really do change your lives for the better.

I have 3 kids-I got pregnant with all three while on the pill-not sure what kind? They don't tell you it can take a couple of months before it starts to work? My mom got pregnant on birth control also. I think it just depends on you! Just be careful. Never get the birth control shot! It is bad when you get off-you could have your period for several months. I got my tubes tied after my last child-so far, it is working! Good luck.

Yes, I did. I didn't know I was pregnant until I lost the baby though, and I wonder if I lost it BECAUSE of the birth control. And yes, I was taking Ortho-Tricyclen at the time too. I now take Jolivette, and it seems to be working. I would say if you don't want to get pregnant, use condoms all the time in addition to your birth control, then you'll really be protected!

YES!! I too was taking birth control because i keep getting cysts before that i had taken clomid for months and never got pregnant and suddenly here after 5 yrs trying i take birth control ALESSE i believe and twice i got pregnant seems sometimes your insulin levels can be high and birth control suppresses insulin levels to where you actually ovulate either while on it . i have know many people that took the pill religiously and became pregnant.

one of my friends got pregnant while taking ortho. she did the same thing you said you did...never missed a day, was always on track and didnt use antibiotics to cancel out the actual birth control. could be a strong possibility that its a weak birth control.
