can i use a new rx-8 switchblade key on an 04'?

i know i can buy an uncut rx-8 switchblade key on e-bay.
but would it work with my 2004, they weren't released until the 2005 rx-8.

i dont think so , maybe check with the dealer.

I know for sure that I can get the new keys reprogramed for my 05 Mazda 6. So It should be that same for your rx-8. Give your dealer a call. Only a dealer can program them.

I think it would, far as I know they did not change much in 2005.
