you make 2 equations (M = # of milipedes and C = # of centipedes)
there are 293 total so M + C = 293
now 16M + 14C = 4408
now solve for C
C = 293 - M
put this into the second equation
16M + 14(293 - M) = 4408
Solve for M then use M to solve for C and then check your answer, and since it's your homework you can do the math part of it.
