Because correct grammar says you should, and you capitalize things of importance and titles

It's how English works. language only makes sense in a community, and each linguistic community needs rules to govern language so that it works. This might not be as important as (say) agreement of noun and verb, but there it is. It's one way we distinguish names from other nouns.
