If Black people were known by the Spanish word "*****" (meaning "black"), why weren't White people known by the Spanish word "Blanco" or "Blanca" (meaning "white")?

Because the white people were of a known nationality and were referred to by positive (Italiano) or negative (wop) names related to that, while any culture of native Africans was generally ignored. I am told Egyptians called black people generically by the word for slave, even if they weren't, and yes there were white slaves.
