nice day out today, but I live semi-near an airport. For some reason the airplane contrails seem to linger in the sky above my house and because there are so many of them they form unnatural clouds. These clouds can block the sun at times and reduce the overall temperature when the clouds are in front of the the sun. It is really weird because I thought that jet contrails usually dissipated after a few minutes. Has anyone else ever noticed an unnatural amount of contrails that seem to altar the sky in an annoying way?

Contrail dissipation is affected by the humidity in the upper atmosphere. If the stratosphere is very dry, the contrail will dissipate quickly. However, if the stratosphere is humid, the contrail will serve as a cloud seed, and will spread. In the few days after 9/11 when air traffic was grounded, researchers noted significant differences in diurnal temperature variation, due to the lack of contrails.

Contrails occur in the upper atmosphere. The one place an airplane would NOT produce contrails is near an airport when they are at a low altitude while taking off and landing.

I live in a navy flying town and also have an airport nearby. I have never seen what you describe. I have seen contrails, but they are usually from jets that are flying really high and the contrails are quite slender in appearance. You should take a picture and post it. It would be interesting!

Contrails block your sun? Sounds like a hell of a lot of air traffic. Never heard anything like this, and I live near Kennedy Airport!

There was one of those "conspiracy" things on the History Channel recently that claimed contrails were the government's answer to global warming, and that some were toxic.
Frankly, I rank those claims right down there in woo-woo-ville with the "moon-landings-were-faked" conspiracy.

Planes are cool, once you recover from your anxiousness.. I even tend to freaked out after listening to approximately all those airplane crashes.. yet God deliberate each and every little thing so why situation.If He needs you to die, it is going to ensue Make dua and bite a lot of gum once you're leaving off..It removes the strain, which you experience.
