An Emu is a large bird similar to an ostrich and is raised for its meat. A few years ago a big push was on for people to start raising Emus because there was a market for their meat. Lots of people got into them by spending thousands for a pair. The market never developed and many were just turned loose. Pops

An Emu is a huge bird. Similar to an ostrich except in color. You're kidding, right. Out side a mall in Miami? Incredible.
They are basically docile birds, but can be dangerous.

Thats right they are like an ostrich. They are native to Australia, I have seen lots here but mostly in the wild or nature parks. The only time I have seen them anywhere near shops is in Exmouth far north West Australia, where they are often walking the streets.
