Of course it's dangerous.

But where are you going? If you're staying on the established trails in any of the major cities, you'll be just fine.

Is your skin caucasian-type? The darker your skin, the less attention you'll attract and the more easily you'll be able to move around without issues.

Carry cash, on your person and in your bag. Contact your embassy as soon as you get to the country, and do not try to be too adventurous. If you work for a company, and your company has an affiliate in that country, establish contact with them so you can find people you trust. Stay indoors during the night, only go out at night with people you know and make sure it's in a group. Dress appropriately at all times - no above-the-knee shorts/skirts. Jeans pants work all the time, I would imagine.

It is a bit.. depends on where you r going.. but on the other hand, i think its really fun.. you onli hav to pay for yourself and you wont hav to bother about others... jus hav a day out on your own.. its fantastic and adventurous!
