Why do you think political cartoon's are important, do you think that they have changed the way people think by displaying a message a different way? I personally dont find them to have an affect today as they used to from what I have read during WW2 or WW1. Do you guys think they are still effective and why or do you think they were just effective during times people considerd were more important?

@ Murray
Well actually the internet is filled with thousands of political cartoons from past wars, especially WW2. Go look some up when you get a chance.

I have a problem.
If you were old enough to have read cartoons DURING The Great War, as that is what you would call it, and those DURING WW II, you would be a fountain of wisdom, very old or DEAD

It is important not only to get throgh the day, but also physialogically that we laff. Political cartoons are a way to take the edge off of difficult issues, TO LIGHTEN UP THE MOMENT SO TO SPEAK. They are as important today as ever. Whether or not they sway people's opinions, is open to debate. They probably have the same impact as political debates, news commentaries, opinion columns, or rallys. Political cartoons came into existance, 30 seconds after the first person on earth called him or herself a politician. And, they will be here 30 seconds after the last politician conseeds that they only screwed things up more than they were.

They are both simple yet complex. Such cartoons address issues which are by themselves difficult to easily understand. Allows us to laugh at things we would otherwise not laugh about.
