Do you live in a town without any passenger rail service? Columbus Ohio has not seen a passenger
train since 1979.

I am very fortunate to live in an areas that has an amtrak commuter train. It is roomier and nicer than their long distance trains, and usually on time or very close to on time.

It is the Amtrak Cascades that goes from Vancouver, B.C. to Eugene, OR, and it is great! There are even movies on board! The seats are more comfortable and more leg room, and there are electrical outlets for every two seats, as well as seats with tables for those who would rather not balance their laptop on a tray.

I have also taken several trips on trains to California, Arizona, and the midwest. Even though these are more crowded and less likely to be on time, I still love traveling on the train!! You get a view like no other, and it's relaxing as well.

California has Amtrak, and oh lord, it's often late and it's not pleasant inside. There's gross packaged food and the seats are not that comfortable.
