Though it would greatly reduce her back pain to have a reduction now, she might not yet be done growing. If you would have the surgery now, you need to take into account that she could still have breast growth and end up needing another one in the future.

I had my breast reduction in Feb 2006 and I love it. My back pain is totally gone and I feel much lighter (Had five pounds hacked off).

Here is a few sites to help you and your daughter out:

http://www.breasthealthonline.com ... this site helped me so much before and after surgery. Apply for the picture boards as it is totally worth it!

http://www.bfar.org ... this one talks about breastfeeding after reduction. (Just an FYI, my PS said I will be able to still breastfeed. It all depends on how they handle the nipple and milk ducts).

http://www.locateadoc.com ... this is where you could find a PS, though I'd start looking at what PS's are covered under your insurance. You could also ask for a recommendation from your family doctor.

Good luck to your daughter. She could go and get sized at a department store like Nordstroms or JCPenney (not Victoria Secret, they size ya wrong). Then go buy a minimizer bra.

For those who are saying a C cup is not that large... we are talking about a 12 year old girl here, not an adult. Since she is still growing, I would bet that she will get larger than a C cup.

I was that size when I was her age, and when I had my surgery last year (age 32) I was a 38J!!! I got a reduction down to a C cup thankfully!

I'm so sorry to hear that her back is killing her because of her breasts. I went through the same thing at her age and I feel for her. Best of luck to her!

I think it would be the right thing to do to let her get a breast reduction because it will be beneficial both to her physical and mental health in the long run. She won't suffer from severe back problems and need a cane or a walker when she is older and she won't be depressed or living at home when she is thirty because she has no self-confidence to get out of the house and find a job or a boyfriend. Talk it over with her seriously before you make a commitment and make a list together of pros and cons and make a decision off that. Good Luck

She should do some push ups, and get some back muscles so she can support the weight.

There is no reason, I have a 36 C and I experience no problems at all. She's young and still growing, why would you reduct her breasts now if they may only hurt now because she is uhh 12 and still a small little girl? If she is still experiencing problems around say 16, maybe 15 if it's really bad then I would consider incorporating the procedure into her future. But for now, I really think that is quite outrageous to think of doing.

I don't ever see MDs perform reduction surgeries on girls that are not done developing yet. Unfortunately, her breasts are likely not done growing. BUT on the bright side, her back muscles and the rest of her body aren't done growing yet either.

Be sure to address this to your pediatrician at her yearly visit. She can offer you much more information. Also, she can see if she is developing at a rate that is within normal limits, and if there are other things that need to be addressed about her development.

Also, take her in for a professional bra fitting, the right bra can really make a world of difference. Many stores offer this service.

Be aware of the effects this can have on all areas of her body image. When the time comes that she can have a breast reduction, and if she still wants it then, then make sure you look into your insurance covering it, many do. Good luck to the both of you!

If I were you I would ask a doctor about it because if it's causing her pain now then it will just get worse. But I don't know if it would be good to do it at such a young age because when shes around the age of puberty they might just come right back and then you'd have to do the surgery again.

At 12 years old she has a lot more vertical growing to do. I would honestly wait until she was well into her late teens to seriously consider a breast reduction because 1) 32 C is not really all that big and 2) they may just stop growing from here on out. I know of many people who were self conscious 12 year olds with big busts but as they grew up their boobs didnt grow anymore. They are, in fact, quite average now.

Since you didnt mention any pain, I really think that her want of a breast reduction is probably more about fitting in and not standing out for the wrong reasons. My advice to you is to teach your daughter about self esteem, excepting her form (and how fortunate she is), and perhaps having to have that conversation about sex and sexual attraction because her development will probably atrract more attention for her than her friends.

You can get her minimizer bras to make their size less noticeable. Make sure she knows how to dress herself appropriately and understands that she may not be able to wear everything her less endowed girlfriends can. And in the event they begin to hurt her back, tell her to strength her core muscle with sit ups. Though people think you should exercise your back if it hurts, it's actually your abdominals that need exercising to pull you foward and maintain posture.

Breast reduction surgery, like gastric bypass surgery, should only really be considered for those with extreme cases of affliction. But as she is not a 32P, she should be just find with your love and guidance.

I am 14 years old, 36D, 5 "11" play basketball and very athletic. I think she should exercise more and get better bras that are looser. Plus there is no way a doctor will reduce her breast at such a young age. Than to top it off her breast aren't that big. But yea i think strengthing her muscles in her back well help. Maybe have her do push ups and sit ups before she goes to bed, I mean that works for me.

Wow. I bet you have to fight the guys off. I mean no disrespect, but a girl that young with that body will surely get a lot of attention. I feel for you.

But.... 32 C is not huge for an ADULT, and what if she stops growing? Her breasts may not get any larger and she may learn to appreciate them.

You could speak with a plastic surgeon. She would be much better able to give you information you are looking for than any of us could. In the meantime, for her back pain, she could see a fitness and exercise coach at a gym and learn to strengthen certain muscles which would help her posture and lessen her pain.

When I was a kid, I knew two girls with very large breasts. I mean almost Dolly Parton large. Both later had more normal sized breasts, and both claimed they "shrunk" following child birth/breast feeding. I wasn't sure if I should believe them, but it didn't matter anyhow. Whatever makes them happy. Neither appreciated the attention they got from their breast size.

i would definitly consider it. That could really lead to some problems later with the back. Maybe wait until you know shes done growing so you can make sure that maybe they don't grow any more that the surgery would be pointless, or that she maybe gets taller and gains a little wait so she evens out.

Her back is probably hurting due to growing pains, not her breast size. You didn't mention her height or weight but 32C isn't exactly huge. I don't think any doctor will perform surgery on her till she's at least 18.
