according to what i have observed, this is always the case, but i still can't understand why. what do you think is the reason behind it?

Maybe men think that women who wear makeup are vain and not intellectual. So not the case. Women can be smart and vain! LOL.

I think it depends on how the make up transforms a woman's appearance. If the makeup is applied appropriately which makes the woman look confident, it shouldn't be a problem for men to take the women seriously. But if a woman is so vain to wear "colorful" make-up, both sexes will find it disgusting.....believe me, I saw a woman in the railway wearing "stunning" makeup that the eyeshows are like "fill-in-the-blanks" in blue shade plus bright red plum lips...LOL

I don't know if this is really true. If a woman is wearing a reasonable (read light) amount of makeup in the right colors and it is properly applied, I think most people will take her seriously. Whether it's right or wrong, most people judge others on their looks but, if you act like someone who should be taken seriously, most likely you will be. But, if you wear too much makeup in crazy colors, it's hard for people to take you seriously becuase you don't look like you take yourself seriously.

easy pick; make-up,in a way,is a mask. & for the mostpart,men don't like to have to pick through bull & try to pull away the mask to see what's behind it. Being upfront is much less work,it makes more sense. seems like a dead obvious choice,right?
another serious reason. If a guy plans on *cough cough* "doing anything" with her,he doesn't want running mascara & smearing lipstick in the way of things.

It appears that those women who don't wear make-up are more comfortable with their natural appearance. Those who do wear make-up (too much) seem to want to be perfect without a flaw. Sometimes we just wear make-up to try new looks. Besides we are trying our hardest to look good for you guys!!! Keep that in mind.

Most don't like people who wear it because in this day and age, men like to see women as honest and open about themselves without feeling the need to cover up their natural grace with articial means.

doesn't mean the barn is a bad barn if ya don't paint it. a comedian once said that all that a women needs to do i just show up. y'all try to hard. how many men do you see behind the make-up counters trying to push that face paint. we love you with or w/o. to me, i prefer natural beauty

Would or do women take men seriously who paint their face, do their eyes, gloss and color their lips. Don't get me started on bleached hair.
