Babe,

I think the syntax of your question is getting in the way of successful answers. With this said, I think you are asking:

How has your educational experiences been a window or a mirror and provide specific details for each?

The metaphor is that educational experiences as "windows" one can see to the other side. (Sort of like opening up doors of opportunities.)

The metaphor is that educational experiences as "mirrors" one looks within--a reflection. (Sort of like an interpersonal learning experience--an epiphany.)

Thus, you could probably better answer this question yourself based on your own educational experiences.

I can tell you I have more "windows" for classes in which I am the student, and more "mirrors" for classes in which I am the teacher.

Good Luck....

As a teacher myself, I can say that teaching definitely offers me both windows and mirrors.

As far as windows go, every time I see the metaphorical "lightbulb"come on over a student's head. That "aha!" moment that is so inspiring and makes me want to keep teaching. As well, every time I take a new class and am a student again, I see what teachers are trying to do and I have a whole new appreciation for my profession.

Being a student also creates the "mirror" you mentioned. When I am a student and my prof is a particularly good teacher (or an especially bad one), a mirror is held to my own teaching practices, and I am inspired.

The most important experience for the "mirror" was when I had a student teacher. On the whole, she wasn't a great student teacher, but she had some phenomenol ideas and a lot of energy. Watching her interact with my students reminded me why I became a teacher in the first place, and really made me think about my own teaching. I am not ashamed to say I cribbed lots of her ideas!
