In the gym there's a lot of things that you can do.

You have 3 core lifts: bench, squat, and power clean. These are essential for almost all athletes in every sport if they use / go to the gym. As for extra lifts and exercises to do you have a lot of options. Pull-ups on a squat rack are really good for your arms but obviously don't do them right after benching (that's just asking for a killing muscle the next day). Leg raises are also something you should do for your legs as well. Your toe joints go on a small bar and the weight is placed on your thigh which you lift up after the weight is released by another person. I'd also suggest squat thrusts (Stand up, frog position, kick out your legs, bring them back in, jump striaght up in the streamline position) since they can really do a lot for you while not having to use any weights.

As you know, swimming is the BEST workout for swimmers and as you also know, swimmers need to be careful in the gym in order to maintain their lean mass to total mass ratio. That being said, I recommend the following:

- Cardio, low resistance, any kind, for an hour.
- VERY light lifting, low weight, higher reps. you should work all muscle groups, especially the shoudlers/chest/core to maintain strength and avoid injury.
- Stretching, lots of strecthing! Make sure you don't lose flexibility while not in the pool, always always stretch well after warmup and cool down.

Good luck and have fun!!!
