Monkeys in general make horrible pets. They're okay until they reach maturity, and then all hell breaks loose.
Do some more research on getting one - if you're still set on one after you have all the information, go for it. But there have been many, many reports and research done about monkeys and keeping them as companion animals, and it hardly ever ends well.

The Federal Fish and Wildlife people occasionally issue permits for non-human primates but is strictly regulated by the Endangered Species Laws (50 CFR).

There are provisions for offspring of pre-law species where you can purchase Endangered Species from a breeder that has these EXEMPT species but they require VERIFYABLE paperwork or you will be held liable for violation of the Act, and there is a heavy fine and possible jail time for violations.
