They have the money to buy the big guns and if the big time players come to the US the league will explode.

I know it is Europe's biggest nightmare, but it could happen if the USA shows half an interest in football. We're Americans, we do everything big and come to dominate everything we put our minds to. I'm not sure it will ever happen, but what could stop it if owners start tossing around money in football like they do in American football, basketball, and baseball. Do you think the next big thing from Argentina or Brazil would turn down 13 million a year to play football and live in New York or L.A.? I doubt it will be anytime soon, but I think it is just a matter of time and also depends on how well the national team progresses. A successful national team, another thing that is bound to happen, would only increase interest in the sport.

I think MLS made a grave error in signing Beckham to such an enormous contract. As a player he will certainly be an asset, but I think the league took their first step down the same path as NASL took to their end. Its a shame because MLS seemed to grasp the "slow, but steady" concept of growing the game here in the U.S. by maintaining fiscal sanity. I hope time proves me wrong.

the MLS will never become a big league the money isn't going to make american players any better and only a couple big time players are going to come to america and those players are just making a huge mistake and ruining everything they worked for

Never! MLS stands for Minor League Soccer. They don't have the money to afford real players because the league owns all the teams. Pretty stupid huh?

Yes, provided they buy lots of foreign players from Europe like David Beckham and not spending too much on them

I don't think it will be soon, maybe not ever, but if the MLS brings in more well-known players, maybe.

I know that's not helpful, but it's all I can really say.
