Testicles of all living animals are heat sensitive. There are some reasons for this, Rodents have large testicles compared with there body size. Because they need this to pro-create alot as they are known to do. The cage may have been too warm, there for the hamster had to regulate body heat in order to care for the sperm inside the testicles. The body will decend the testicles outside the body, and let them hang as far away as possible.
Try to decrease the temperature a little, just a little and then see if the get a little smaller.
If he was a young hamster, then he might have just hit puberty. Hamsters males have large testicles, just do... but if they are very hot, red, irritated and hes chewing at them or there is a foul odor around them, then go to the vet.

I assure you your hamster is totally normal! i actuall y asked this question myself a few weeks ago and was told by a vet that the bigger the balls the more chance he has of pregnating a female if he was living in the wild! I have a syrian male who is 1 years old and his are very large. Where as my husband thinks its fantastic, it used to alarm me quite alot! also the older they get, the more their balls will drop and look even bigger. You basically have a furry stud for a hamster.

I agree with some of the above posters. You may want to ask your vet if this is 'normal' for a male hamster. It could end up being nothing, but it could also be something more serious.

I remember when I was younger I had hamsters. Now, my kids have them and yes, their balls are a bit on the big side. Okay really big side!! I think they must grow when the hit maturity.

Ya made me look but I think I actually know the answer to this based on a squirrel I saw with huge balls... a squirrel with big ones has an infection, so it might mean your hampster has an infrection. But you can probably get the answer to this on the net. But call them testicles!

We have 11 male Syrians and some of them look like they have shooter marbles in there, they're huge too. This may sound gross, but check for any scabs or fresh wounds that may have caused any swelling. Also check for any lumps that are like peas-marbles in size. You find anything not normal, take him to the vets.

He may have an infection. Or, I have seen dogs that get tumors on them and they get huge. I would take them to the vet. Better to be safe, than sorry.

I would call my vet. Tell him that your hamsters testicles seem to have become seriously enlarged and see what they recommend.
