I think the reason the N.R.A. is staying quiet about Giuliani is because Rudy Giuliani never said he wanted to confiscate Americans' firearms. He is for gun control. What politician isn't for some gun control? I can't think of any politician that believes Americans should be able to carry every type of weapon there is.

Have before, will again. They're just not really cranked up on it yet this cycle. Pay your dues, and soon enough they'll give a letter-grade rating to each member of Congress and either that or something similar to major figures like the mayor in American Rifleman and American Hunter magazines.

Giuliani could be a great uniter. Lots of democrats who aren't cut and run cowards would vote for him and so will a lot of republicans who like the tax cuts he gave New Yorkers.
Personally I like Fred Thompson but I also like the fact that Giuliani has a history of cutting taxes. We'll see who comes out of the Republican caucas because it's going to be the next president.

The thing is, that hardly anyone knows anything about him, other than his former mayor-hood status. Once they do, he doesn't stand of a snowball's chance in hell of getting the party nomination.
