if its still working and bootable ... imo its good to use an imaging software like nortons ghost or acronis true image ... u can put ur system on a bootable dvd set ... load the new hardrive and bios defaults ... then boot with the dvd set and restore to the new drive...

A laptop hard drive enclosure. It is a "box" that the old drive fits into, and then it has a USB cable to connect it to the laptop (or desktop). Then you use the old drive as an external drive to transfer files. Cost in the $30-40 range. Make sure it is for a laptop (2.5 inch) drive, not a desktop drive. They make both.

Ghost the image of ur old harddisk to ur new one. Its simple and quick.
