From my Utah history class, from living in Utah, and studying it in the church i know that the Mormons came to Utah in 1847. Some of them came a couple of days early but on July 24, 1847 Brigham Young would say but it is not to sure if he would say that in these words "That is the place." After all if you think that July 24 is a state holiday here in Utah. Anymore question feel free to ask but i am sure that the information is somewhere in your book or packet and you do not want to look or just don't understand it. Especially if you are in the State of Utah. That information is in my book and my teacher even told us that to.

Persecuted from its inception, the Mormon Church moved from New York to Ohio to Missouri to Illinois, where it put down strong roots at Nauvoo. In 1844 the Nauvoo settlement was devastated by its neighbors, and Smith and his brother were murdered. This attack prompted the Mormons, under the leadership of Brigham Young, to migrate to Utah, where the first parties arrived in July 1847.
