No, she was not raped by her father. She was just needed of affection, she felt underappreciated because of her physical defficiency, she kind of wanted to fit in. Also she was left with some trauma after her mother's suicide.
Maybe who told you about her father abusing her, maybe they jumped with that conclusion when they saw her naked hugging her father. Well that was weird, but the truth is that she felt do bad for all the above reasons that she even wanted to feel loved by the detective who was investigating her father and who had been so kind to her. Fortunately he denied and didnt take advantage of her, and after that her father came into the house, found her naked, he comprehended what hard time the girl was going though and he just hugged her, he understood her need for affection.

I never got the impression that she was abused. Being deaf was a huge hurdle for her, and I think her mom was the only parent who she felt understood her and close to. Her father probably was not home very much (work), being of Asian heritage, I have found the men (not all, but in general) to be somewhat emotionally detached. They don't express themselves openly. I do believe he loved her, but just never knew how to show it. And with his wife gone, he didn't know how to fill that void for her, especially while grieving himself.

How they come up with sex abuse, I have no idea. There was no indication of abuse.

In my opinion, she was a confused teenager that was forced to deal with society's rejection of the deaf that was compounded by her male peers' immature perception of the deaf, her loneliness in not having a boyfriend, raging hormones, being non-communicative with her father and above all, her witnessing her mother's suicide (or finding her body, I can't remember).

I really did not get that from the film. I think the girl was very needy and had a difficult time expressing herself. Her nakedness was a manifestation of her needy personality. I felt sorry for her father. He lost his wife and he really did not understand his daughter.

I don't think she was abused by her father, just a lonely girl in need of attention. I do have a theory as to the strangeness between her and her dad: I believe that the mother was actually murdered by her father, with the gun that he got rid of in Moroco, and the girl knows it. How's that for a theory?
