I agree. He should be proud that he is on one of the best defensive teams in the NFL for the past few years. He is just frustrated that Brian Urlacher gets more press than he does.
But he has to get over that Urlacher is more talented!

Anyone who has ever watched or played in the NFL knows it's a business first. The Bears were making the smart business move in franchising him. And playing in the NFL there's a chance that's going to happen to you. With the tag he's guaranteed $7.206 million next year and that's the average of the top five salaries for players at his position. So he's not being short changed. He rejected a 6 year contract that would have paid more then $30 million last spring. What did he think they were going to do??
So yes, he's being a big baby about the situation. I have no desire to feel sorry for him because he's whining about a franchise tag. He had an opportunity to sign a contract with the Bears and he didn't. And with the tag, he's still getting what a Top Five Linebacker in the league will make. It seems to me that he's jealous of all the money that's being thrown around in free agency and wanted to get in on the cash flow. Making a big scene of it definitely isn't the solution.
But then again does it shock anyone that he's being a baby about it. Terrell Owen's agent Drew Rosenhaus is also Briggs agent. Big shocker there.

Briggs should appreciate the fact that he is playing on one of the best defenses in the league today. If he kept his mouth shut, management would look bad for not getting him a decent contract.
That being said, his mouthing off has really shown the level of character that he is. He is being given a one year contract for $7.2 MILLION (since that is the average of the top 5 yearly salaries of LB in the league today). If he dominates just once more, his contract negotiations would end up simply with a larger contract with a heck of a lot more money.
Briggs' mouth has ruined his chances not only for a better contract, but have put him in a very bad spot with the fan of Chicago. If he keeps this up, he will probably end up on the practice squad and NOT released from the team.

Understand he's just looking out for his best interests in the long run, just like you or I would do. He turned down 33 mil over 7 years last year. Actually that was a good move because he's worth more now.
Then the Bears made a good move by franchising him.
So he stands to make 7 mil this year. He says he won't play but I can't see anyone walking away from that.
So... he plays out the year for the Bears with a mean streak, ups his value more and either gets a lucrative extension or signs for big money as a free agent.
Cry baby, no. Shortsighted with the "I'll never play another down for the Bears"... probably

He doesnt want to be labeled with the franchise tag. He is very talented and any team would be happy to have him. Instead of letting him look for a long term deal, the Chicago Bears are screwing him by limiting him to a short deal. He is not being a cry baby, he just wants a deal that will last him more than a couple years.

I can understand why he wants out. The team is falling apart. This happens to every team that goes to the superbowl the year after. Plus, it's the Bears. I am a Packers fan and I could totally agree when he said he doesn't want to play another snap for that club. I wouldn't ever want to touch a ball for them.

He complains about money. We give him that but then realize we aint on the long term with the bears. he should stay with the bears and the day the bears dont need him, he can play for more money and hes worth more value and can play with any team

I think his contract for the past season was for something like $750,000 and he is being offered 10 times that now. I can see why he thought he was underpaid before. However, he lost me when he stated on ESPN that he knows what it is like to play for short money and to be hard up.

People that say they would play for free 1. can't play and 2. would change their minds once they played and saw the money they can make.
No one works for free and if you did you should join the Salvation Army
