3 weeks is excessive. You are probably letting out a lot of blood that has built up from irregular periods. See your doctor. Get on the pill and get it regulated.

omg you just described me i started my period when i was 9. i have never had a normal period know i have been bleeding since last monday the 5th. last month i bleed for three weeks. i have not beeen to the doctor yet but from what iam hearing getting on the pill wil help regulate you. also drink lots of water and take iron pills (over the counter, are harmless they will keep you from being anemic). hope all goes well with you

That happened to me 14 years ago for a year until I saw my Gyn. I was never really regular with my periods since I started them. I would go for months without periods. Then fourteen years ago I got a period that never stopped. The gyn said I was not ovulating and that is why I was bleeding all the time.

My Gyn stopped the bleeding and got me regular by putting me on the pill.
