I was convicted of dui manslaughter 18yrs ago and I have been clean ever since then. But no one seems to think thats a good enough thing since as soon as someone see's it on a background check its pretty much over for me getting hired. Not only for that but for the fact the state of Florida will not ever let me have a license to drive again for the rest of my life. Not even a hardship permit for just back and forth to work even. Granted I know it was a terrible crime but I can't change what happened back then. I just changed who I am now which isn't nothing like the person I use to be back then. I also know everyone doesn't change after a thing like that happened to them either but some do and yet they are profiled along with those that haven't learned their lesson. I don't think thats fair to us that have changed our ways and have settled down the best we can but yet we are being forced into a hole cause of the laws.Just hoping the expungement will help with finding work maybe.

Nope you're stuck with that one for the rest of your life. How would you feel if the victim were a member of your family and the person who killed them wanted the charge expunged?

Don't know if it can be expunged or not.
Hope it can be tho for your sake. I'd rather see you out working than me having to support you and your family thru walfare. An expungment won't give you all your rights back still or even help you get a drivers license again. The charges will still always be on your record.
I know I wouldn't want to be in your position. Or see any of my family members in it (since a lot of them are drinkers). To not be able to support my family and possibly lose everything I ever worked for. Possibly end up on welfare if not worse and out in the street homeless. And I know some would probably just commit suicide and get over with it before getting to that stage.
The way laws are today tho it could easily happen to anyone who drinks. One drink is over the limit so all you would have to be involved in is a accident that took a life to get there. Could be a accident that's not totally your fault. And if your the soul surviour chances are you would be charged for it if they found alcohol on your breath.
If you have changed since then and been clean that long and are planning to stay that way. I wish you the best of luck with your future.
Hate him if you must people but hate him for who he is not who he was.

That isn't something that will ever get expunged.

And I have no sympathy for you. Yes, it was a stupid thing from your past, and you can't change it. But the person that you took from a family and their friends can't come back. Nothing is going to change. Why should you get to go back to an "easier" life, when that person can't even get back to a life? I'm sorry, but what you are going through right now is part of the punishment. You are lucky to be walking around. Feel the luck and find something else to worry about.

Don't believe a murder conviction can be expunged from your record. Here is the problem, even though you have changed, you cannot change what you have done. That is part of the offense, we can be forgiven for our crime, but many others have to live with their loss. How would you feel if you saw someone driving who killed your loved one? No easy answers here. Thank God there is forgiveness.
