THE GET DOWN TO BASICS GUNSMOKE
Festus goes up to Doc and says Doc, this hangy-down part of my ear is a itchin' (creative license) somthing awful. Doc replies "Festus if I look at your ear you ain't gonna pay me...When was the last time you picked up the tab?" In the mean time the Marshall and Miss Kitty wish to be left alone but they can hear the commotion between Doc and Festus...Festus tell Doc.."Well we will just get ole Matt to settle this" and goes walking off. Doc calls "Festus, you better get you **** back here this instant. You know Matt and Kitty need some time together. Matt and Kitty hear things a settlin' down so Kitty looks at Matt and says "You know Matt if you just leave those two alone they will work things about between themselves." Matt turns to her and says "That's pretty deep for a redhead." Kitty replies "Well, I'm a pretty deep redhead." Matt and Kitty get to talkin' about getting out of Dodge City for a few days and going into the city. Kitty tells Matt. "Let me get a few things together here at the Longbranch and I will meet you out front." Matt replies to Miss. Kitty...."Yep! That's do-able."
As they ride off they hear Doc and Festus in the background..."Doc...you know a beer surely would help my ear right about now?" Doc replies..."Festus you could be chewed up by a pack of wild dogs and you would say that a beer would fix it." Festus replies...."Well now you know you might want to think about selling that idea Doc, be glad to help ya, after that beer that is."

Doc's voice could be heard all over Dodge
City, yelling at Festus"You better get your *** back here this instant!" Poor Festus, taking in the brunt of Doc's bad day, walked back into the Longbranch in a sheepish fashion, so that Doc would stop yelling.
Festus....when was the last time you picked up the tab?Well...Gauly Doc..Don't a feller get no credit around here fer puttin up with yor jawin and carrin on? Yep! That's do-able Festus, but you could pick up the tab, on occasion.
