I'm a school teacher, and I've been sick ALL winter! I take a daily vitamin, iron, magnesium, etc. I've started taking zinc. I get enough sleep, and I do my best to keep my stress down. I'm still sick, though. I have no energy to work out. What else can I do?

I used to be very sick all the time. Long story short... if you're not happy and stressed you'll get sick.

Try removing meat from your diet, it actually takes lots of energy to digest it. Going vegetarian for a while could help dramatically. I'm sure you know that you shouldn't be eating any cheese or dairy foods of any kind. By removing the things in your diet that drag you down, meat, dairy, sugar, and refined products of any kind, you will boost your immune system and help with the energy levels. You should notice a difference within a day or two.

If you have literally been sick all winter long, then you might consider that something more is wrong than just a cold. If you've been sick on and off, stress isn't the only problem that you need to worry about. Having sick students in the classroom in a warm, moist environment is a recipe for breeding bacteria. You need to get out in the sunshine and fresh air, let nature work her magic on you and remember, food is the first line of defense. If you eat right, you'll stay healthy.

I'm sorry you've been sick. I hope that this helps and that you'll feel fit-as-a-fiddle in no time! Good luck.

I have a few suggestions for you that I have used myself. First, when feel a cold coming on, I take a dose of Vitamin C and echinacea. I take this (about three times) until the symptoms go away. I also have started to take a daily probiotic which helps regulate good bacteria in your body to help ward off bad bacteria. (If you have taken lots of antibiotics, your good / bad bacteria ratios can be really out of whack.)

Also, something that I believe has been really important for me is to not be germ-aphobic. I used to wash my hands all the time and use hand sanitizer all the time. I was obsessed with germs. I read that some germs were good and helped keep the really bad germs away. So, I still wash my hands frequently, and I use hand sanitizer, but I have cut down on trying to be completely germ free. I have a three year old, and even with cutting down on being germ free, I have seen a major difference in the amount that we are sick. I think I really was getting rid of the good germs.

I suggest adding all natural Optiflora to your supplement program. It's a two-product system that includes Probiotic (Bifidus & Acidophilus...microflora) + Prebiotic (FOS...food source for microflora). Due to its patented encapsulation process, guaranteed delivery of 500 million live microflora to the intestines.

Also B-Complex feed the nerves and has a profound effect on mental and emotional stability. Stress, sugars and alcohol all rob the body of B vitamins. Among other things, B-Complex helps with anti-stress and converts carbohydrates, fats and protein into energy.

Hope this is helpful and feel free to contact me with questions.

go to a website sponsored by Dr. Richard Schultz, www.herbdoc.com--when you get there, look around in his online store. eventually, you'll run across a liquid "elixir" called "ECH+", which is actually just a pure and natural form of echinacea. order it and be sure to get express shipping...the sooner you get on it, the sooner you'll begin to regain strenght! read the site and see what all he has to offer! This is probably the best source of pure and natural health remedies available today.
I imagine you've heard it all, by now...but I share this from experience.
