saving private ryan and braveheart seem to be more realistic. where 300 as a dreamlike quality to it.
when they do show any dismemberment and decapitation it's very hollywood. that's the best way i can describe it.
i think that saving private ryan and braveheart are more violent because you see guts and intestines strewn all over the place. these two are more psychological than 300.
i remember in the beginning of saving private ryan there was a young man who was blown in half, intestines hanging out calling for his mother. that is just to screwed up. more realistic and violent for me.
300 was more for the action and the coolness of the fighting techniques. actually, to think about it, 300 seems to be more violent because of the fact that it exploits violence. showing these men in different fighting styles and creative ways of killing their enemies, but also all these movies show how this could have been like for all these people fighting for what they believe in.
i am contradicting myself big time hear. all 3 movies are violent. blood and gore. there was more gore in saving private ryan and braveheart. mostly just blood in 300 and a couple of appendages cut away. nothing too drastic. ok i will stop before i keep going on and on.

Actually, not more violent at all. Where there are a few stylish beheadings and the like, Ryan was more graphic, as was Braveheart. The 300 violence was very comic-book, the look of being drawn on the screen.

I'd have to say that it was more violent then braveheart, and less violent than private. some of the violence is pretty graffic, but the 300 has a different feel to it.

Its violent in the old era ways, swords and axes cutting and hacking... as opposed to gunshot wounds, you have dismemberment... but it all has a sense of style. If you are very anti-violence this is not the movie for you. Its a great movie though, and I highly recommend it, very stylish.
