Graphite is considered to be the highest grade of coal usually and formed from metamorphosis of originally organic (living) material.
Marble is metamorphosed limestone. Most limestone formed from the remains of marine organisms with calcium carbonate shells.
The presence of sandstones and granites can't tell us anything one way or the other about whether life was present.
