Not true.

It is true that most viruses are designed for windows systems, because PC's are more common than macs. Just like more viruses are designed for Internet Explorer than Netscape, simply because it's more well known, used, and people are more familiar with the programing of such devices.

Macs do get viruses. They're just a less frequent target of malicious attacks, due to the less frequent use of Macintosh computers.

The phrase, "Macs don't get viruses" is usually an uneducated statement, or a vast exaggeration. It's certianly possible to write viruses for a Mac. It's certainly possible to get a virus on your mac. But, as a general rule, you're still safer on a mac than on a PC.

It is fully possible for a Mac to get a virus. However most virus makers want to get the biggest number of people they can with a single attack, and currenttly there are way more people using PCs than Macs. However a few virus have already popped up on Macs. The source lists a few of the Mac viruses as well as other sites that track such viruses.

That's absolutely false. Any computer can get a virus if the virus writer knows how to exploit the system. Macs generally don't get viruses because Macs only have about 5% of the market share and virus writers are too busy writing viruses for Windows machines to target more victims.

Macs get viruses but not nearly as often. The reason, its a lesser used operating system. Most viruses are designed for the windows operating system due to its overwhelming popularity. So your not 100% safe with a mac but probably 99% safer than a Windows based pc

It is true for the most part and because most people have PC's it's just not as lucrative for programmers to spend their time attacking macs which less people have. also the infrastructure of the systems is completely different. windows is open, assuming most programs are "good" so it let's them run. Mac is a much more closed o/s almost requiring permission from Apple (mac) in order to run any applications on your computer.
