my hamstring right above my knee on the backside hurtss soooo bad i dont no what to do about it it has hurt for like 2 or 3 days and im in track im pretty sure that has something to do with it and my coaches told me to ice it which i did but it just seems to feel worse and now its starting to go down into my calf muscle, i can't even walk up stairs without it being painful. I tore my thigh muscle in the same leg but i dont really think that would have anything to do with it. I hope i gave you enough information to tell me what i have wrong with me :)

You sprained a muscle. Time, heat and rest is what you need. Support socks will help. After you get better, stand in your kitchen, hands on the counter top. Put one foot back, firmly on the floor, moving forward and back, stretching the calf muscle, 10 times. Then do the other foot. Then squat up and down, 10 times, slowly. Ice makes it worse. You need to wrap your legs, raise them up higher than your head and rest, time and patience. Forget running until the pain is completely gone.

I know this sounds improbable, but my friends son had the same symptoms. His track coach said he was not drinking enough water. Dehydration was causing his ham's to tighten up. Are you drinking lots of water?
