I don't believe kindergarteners get homework. I didn't, and my oldest son (6) didn't get any either. Kindergarten is more about getting them used to a school setting, not homework. That comes in first grade when they have actual subjects. Kindergarten consists of story time, sleeping, and eating, and making little crafty things to take home as far as I know.

I see a lot of "give em cookies" responses. While you may feel bad bribing your kid with cookies, the whole idea is incentive. At that age, a child is too young to understand the importance of homework. You have to give the kid incentive... a system of rewards of whatever kind should work just fine.

I threaten to take away toys, tv, etc unless the homework gets done. It can be a battle of the wills. Once they've seen that I mean business, they usually just glare at me while doing their homework.

homework means nothing to a child in kindergarten. Its more work for the parent or the person helping the child. (just something learned in my early childhood classes)

Since when do Kindergardeners have homework? Well...you could offer them a cookie or a new toy or something. And do it with them.
