i own a repair shop and that was a little high, considering there really isn't any tuning to do on a electronic ignition system, but labor is always more here than parts are ,and there is always a big mark up on parts when you go through a dealer,if i was you id find we a good small repair shop, one that does real good work and deal with them, there labor rate is a lot cheaper, and the quality of the work will be as good if not better, because a small shop don't want the vehicle coming back on them for the same problems,so there going to give you as good of work as a dealer will sometI'mes better,i own and operate a small shop, and im getting 06 model vehicles now to service and maintain, people are simply getting tired of paying the high dollar dealer repairs, but this might be something you want to think about,i cant guarantee the quality of all shops work, but i know i sure don't want any coming back to me for the same thing, and so far it has been good ,that's probably a fair price from a dealer ,what you payed, good luck i hope this helps.

Depends on what exactly needed to be replaced. In some cases, the part being replaced is relatively cheap, however to get to that part can be a real *****. This was the case with the DSM eclipse/talon/laser piece of crap. When the water pumps went ($50 part) you had to spend $700 in labor to get it replaced, because it was such a long, time consuming hassle. The same can be said for something like a clutch. A clutch generally doesn't cost more than $150 (most cars) however there's a lot of work involved in gettting to the damn thing.
If you tell us what you had done, we could better tell you how bad you got ripped off.
Hope this helps

What did they replace??? Labor is crazy, thats why its' good to own a haynes manual and do work yourself whenever possible.
$600??? What could they have possibly replaced? A clutch is $600 labor, struts are $600 labor, a headgasket is around $600 labor, but what did they replace that only cost $200?

That's possible. You might want to say the year, make and model.
If the part is hard to get to, say a knock sensor, you might end up with a lop sided bill. Tell more so we can opine if the price was fair or not.

Might help if u told us what exactly needed to be repaired. You got ripped off. But hell, that's what happens when you take your car to a dealer for service.
