Please, dear...get another doctor to examine you. Although an IUD will be painful when it is first installed, you should NOT be experiencing the pain, agony and problems you have been. If you are having bad pain NOW...get to an emergency room right away! It sounds like the IUD was not installed properly. In any event, the doctor is unethical in having the type of attitude she has. She should have told you about the side effects and any pain/discomfort you may experience. I am not familiar with a platinum IUD...this is something you should speak with a different doctor about.

I would report this terrible doctor to the American Medical Association or your state's or province's attorney general. This woman should not have a medical license and be put in the position of trust she has been put into.

Our thoughts are with you, dear. Please let me know how you are and what happened.

First of all, the Dr. issue. Drs. are, by law, required to inform you of ANY potential problems associated with minor/major surgery. And having an IUD implanted is definitely minor surgery.(Even if done in the office). Failure to do this CAN be construed as malpractice, especially if something horrible goes wrong, and it does happen. A platinum IUD is a type of metal, the purest form, above gold, and very expensive. Probably used because of the lack of impurities, hence a lower chance of infection. Which, by the way, is neither here nor there, as far as you're concerned. I would contact the Board that governs Doctors in your area, in the US, it is the AMA, Amer. Medical Assoc., which monitors MD's, and accepts complaints then investigates them. THEN, get another Dr. you are under no contract to stay with a B**** of a Dr., and tell her why.

Web MD has some on this:

You have a platinum version rather than copper. It would be the wire that keeps it in place.

You need a new doctor. One with a much better bedside manner. This should have all been explained to you before it was done.

I recently got one also. I have had no pain with it, but
mine is a differenty type. I would suggest you research it,
and or call your doctor. Your supposed to check it at the
end of your period to make sure it's still there. There is
a string, a very thin one that you can feel, unless your doctor
cut it to short. If you can't feel it tell your doctor cause they
can fall out.
