High school is exactly what YOU make it. It is fun, scary, challenging, rewarding and gives you an opportunity to find and work on your strengths and weaknesses. Use your time in high school well! It is your springboard to your adult life. And remember, balance in everything.

Comprehensive High School: Highly underrated depending on where you live. Some people see it as a big ball of violence and unfocused students with teachers who don't care, but I have friends in that schools who say there are problems but they still get by learning.
Magnet/Specialized HS: I go to a magnet high school and while I think comprehensive is decent, I think that magnet high schools tend to be alot better, especially for focused students. You wont have to deal with the constant teasing if you have suffered that, there is typically less violence (my school before it expanded had about 1 fight per year that was quickly broken up). The only thing I'd have to say is that if you were at the top of the class in elementary school, don't immediately assume that you will be in your high school because now, you're in competition with people who were at your level before. But don't dummy down because you don't think you can handle it, just keep working and work a bit harder.
SCHOOL LIFE: Try to avoid cliquing up because as you probably already know from elementary school, cliques tend to be against each other and you dont want to be in that situation. Uhhhh ... besides having bell schedules to follow and a bit more independence, the rest is just like elementary school.

High school for me was confusing. The cliques became more complicated. Everyone was either drinking or smoking. We were set up on a four class schedule(12 was a five). During 9th grade they try to keep you separate from the other classes. No one really cares about the school and people did anything they could do to get out of work. My hardest year was 10th grade. I loved my extracurriculars. I was in FCCLA (state officer in 12th), 4-H(chapter president in 12th), and French club. 12th grade was my easiest year because almost all my classes were electives and the only important classes were English and Math, I believe. I recommend trying to take as many accelerated classes as possible and push yourself.
I only wish now that I had tried harder in high school. I did decent but not my best. In 10th, take the PLAN test. In 11th, take the PSAT and ACT. Start planning for college choices. In 12th, retake the ACT to get a higher school and the SAT if you are going out of state. Now you need to start applying to your top colleges. Don't dawdle. I did that and now regret it.

Nothing special. After 9th grade its like blah i have to go to school again. Just try to be mature and don't try to act out to prove that you're cool. I'm not saying that you'll do that but many freshman tend to do this and it annoys. Have fun for now and don't slack off in the beg because you'll regret it.

It was a very memorable time in my life. Make the most of it. Make friends, study hard, and make memories. It goes by so fast! Before you know it, you will be going to your 10 year reunion.
