Definately the past.
I would love to see the signing of the Declaration of Independance. It must of been a madhouse; this side squabbling against that side. What were the deciding factors of those men to actually bring themselves to vote one way or another. This country would be unrecognizably different than today.
Who or what built Stonehenge? What did they look like? What did they dream about? How was their society organized?
How long did it actually take to build the great pyramids at Giza? I want to know about the everyday-person who lived then. What did the least important brick-maker eat for his lunch on a typical day? Did he have a family?
The future has yet to happen, so anything we do today would affect any details we 'temporarily' learned about the future.

This is too easy! I already know about the past; it's happened, right!?!
Although, that said, I'm not so sure that I'd really want to know about the future, not the NEAR future (my lifetime and end) at any rate!
It would be very tempting to get a glimpse of the 22nd century or even further ahead. Although, having said THAT, I remember the Steven Spielberg film "A.I." and the far distant future was a real yawn.

I already know the past. If you think hard enough, and are motivated, you know the future. You create your own life and what it holds for you. You decide and chose. You are your own future.
If I put all that aside and actually answer the question....no, id rather not. If I could know the things that were out of my control (which is only death) then no, I do not want to know when I will die.

The past. I think that knowing about the future will stress you out or make you go insane. I believe a lot of scary things will happen in the future.

I would rather know the past, because we can figure out what happened, what did we do wrong, so we can fix our mistakes, and find out the mysteries of life. The future can wait. On the other hand, if something good or bad happens, we can make it happen earlier, and it COULD save billions of lives!

I would be happy just knowing the present.
After all, you cannot change the past. And, you cannot control what will happen in the future (unless you can control other people). So, I just need to work on (and in) the present.

The past. Because although we know many things about the past, there is much that we don't. The most important being the way that life was lived, from caveman to peasant to noble.

Past. No fun knowing what is coming and it is better to learn from the mistakes of the past so as not to repeat them.
