I remember as a lil gurl I used to hear a version and it still plays on state or federal occassions and its sung by a male voice. But I never got to know who sang it. Now that my daughter is here and I wanted to play it for her I wish I knew who sang that and have her listen to it. Does anyone know the best version of our national anthem in a very good strong voice? thank you.

at first I was going to tell you Marvin Gaye ( very sexy!) but since you need it for your daughter you might want to check out Whitney Houston's version.

The best version I ever saw wasn't sang, it was played on the bass guitar. Michael Anthony played it, back in 1992, at a concert in Wichita, KS. It was awesome.

Whitney Houston did a very good job when she sang it at some sports event a few years back, but I don't know if she ever recorded it.

Off the top of my head, Faith Hill did a wonderful version of it. I think it was right after 9-11 or for the anniversary that she did it.
