This is one thing I can help you with easily.
If you're looking for movies that are mor for older children or younger teens, or just anybody in general, I suggest anything by Hayao Miyazaki (such as Spirited Away, Kiki's Delivery Service, Princess Mononoke, Grave of the Fireflies...etc...)
A few good movies that are better for those who are more mature would be Armitage, Animatrix, and Ghost in the Shell.
I'd also look into Detective Conan if you're interested in mystery (there are 10 movies out in Japanese with subtitles available, and 1 in english), and Ninja Ressurection (the sequal of Ninja Scroll).

Spirited Away was a fantastic movie, saw it, own it, loved it. Although I did not see Princess Mononoke, I have heard high praises saying it's one of the best anime' movies in history.

Spirited Away or Grave of the Fireflies if you can stomach the extremely depressing story.
