I do not eat meat. Regardless of the veracity of that report, unless one is merciless, they cannot kill an innocent animal for food. If you are wondering why there is so much unresolved violence in the world, then measure it by the amount of violence a country commits against it's animals.
The raising of beef is a losing proposition, economically speaking. Notwithstanding the pollutants, the amount of grain needed to raise one cow to the age of slaughter will feed a family of five people for a year. This is why every conceivable part of the animal is sold and placed in food products, and still it is not profitable, and so must continually be propped up by government subsidies.
If you must defend eating meat, then you must also defend the means by which it is obtained. So many have answered callously, "I don't care". Yes, that is quite obvious. With hardened hearts, you satisfy the tongue at the expense of innocent lives. It is any wonder that you also support the satisfaction of greedy governments at the expense of innocent human lives?
Don't forget your handbasket.

Right. But if we stop eating meat, we will produce more greenhouse gases than all the livestock combined.

I eat small amounts of beef, pork, and chicken. Yes, meat as a source of sustenance is highly inefficient.

I HATE eating meat...ever read up on the torture these animals go through? It's horrific.
But, I relcutantly eat it anyway...it's complicated.
