It started on friday with a general feeling of fatigue, i figured it was stress and took a nap but i would up with chiles and i didnt want to move. It was like that for the rest of the weekend and sunday night my throat was pretty scratchy and i had a 101 fever. I didn't go to class on monday and tried to rest but my fever went up to 102 and i had a deep cough and it started to hurt my chest. Today i went back to class but my fever now is still 102 but it got a little higher from before and closer to 103. The cough is getting worse and coming more frequently. My throat is pretty soar from all the coughing and i'm beginning to get a headache from it too. I was going to go to class in the morning but im pretty exausted. Should i just wait it out tonight and go?

If you haven't done so already, take an aspirin or two extra strength Tylenol at least every 4 hours and see if that doesn't bring your fever down. Drink lots of tea - lemon or chamomile with honey - and clear soups as well. Usually these steps bring initial symptoms of a viral infection like the flu down significantly and then its just a matter of waiting another few days to be completely cured. However, if you have been taking over the counter medication as described above and your fever is getting worse, then you may be dealing with a bacterial infection such as bronchitis or pneumonia that will require an antibiotic (is your cough productive? i.e. are you coughing up clear or yellowish stuff?). Anyway, given that it's already been two days with no relief and even a slight worsening in symptoms, I think it's time that you seriously consider visiting your doctor or an after hours clinic. Hope you feel better soon!

You probably have the flu and should rest and stay well hydrated. If you experience symptoms like severe headache, abdominal pain, or anything beyond what you are having now you have to go see a doctor. This should also get better within a couple of days, or again go see the MD. Your body is talking to yo9u, it needs to rest.

Sounds like it could have started as a virus and become a secondary bacterial infection of the upper respiratory tract.

It could also be mild pneumonia. Get it checked sooner than later.
