I am teaching myself a piece called "Georgiana" from the 2005 movie "Pride and Prejudice." I love this paino piece but I feel I cannot play it properly for it is very very fast. I can play it, but just at a slower speed. Does anyone know any hand exercises I could do? Or maybe a link to a website that has exercises for your fingers to help increase their speed along with my constant practicing?

I understand that I will get faster as I practice more, but I want to know if there are excercises which can strengthen my fingers for they get quite sore.

You could try baoding balls. Look at the videos at http://www.baodingballs.com to see how they work. You could do it while watching tv and stuff and build it up to where you can rotate the balls really fast without them clanking.

Oh my goodness... I love that song!!! It is so pretty!
You don't really have to play it that fast though, if you use a lot of pedal and a lot of expression. I know it's fast in the movie, but it sounds really pretty slowly too.
I've played for a long time, but never really used hand exercises. The only way to do it is to practice a lot.
And make sure to exaggerate the notes when you practice slowly, so that they don't blur together when you play them fast.
Oh, and whenever i play it fast, my triplets get uneven. That's a problem you have to be careful of too.
One thing that might possibly help (i havent tried it, only read about it) is to play the left hand as solid chords (three notes together) instead of as broken ones. Then start playing them not quite together, and a little further and further apart until they're at the speed you want them.

Practicing is definitely important; however, for increasing speed, flexibility and strength, you might try a computer typing exercise to increase the speed with which your fingers move over the keys. Another strengthening exercise, producing some flexibility is to carry two sponge balls (lifke a Nerf ball) with you everywhere, squeezing for a minute or two, then releasing and stretching your fingers, then relaxing them for a few minutes. Squeeze the balls again, stretch, then relax.

Get a metronome, start out slow and as you get better speed it up. It's more important to keep up the time then to play fast, speed comes with practice.

No, it is not normal. Call the cops immediately, you may be experiencing a visit from the ALIENS. *gasp of horror as dramatic music plays*

you just need to practice more
the reason you can't play it fast is because you're not familiar enough with it
all you can do is practice practice practice.
