What do you think about the strict focus on math and reading only? What do people feel about schools getting money for adopting a program such as America's Choice?

Throw the unions out and introduce competition.

Unions exercise too much power over school boards. Anytime you have to remove teachers from the classroom because of problems but cannot fire them you have to understand theres a big problem.

Bring in competition like school choice, charter schools private schools. The good ones will survive, the bad ones will belly up.

I like your ideas too. One thing thats even simpler is to stop using classrooms as social indoctrination labs. No BS just the basics.

We do need to focus primarily on math and reading.
AND...studies have shown that kids either lose or gain the zest for learning by the time they enter the third grade.
I would like to see our kids exposed to rich learning experiences betwen kindergarten and the end of the third grade.
That means...in Alabama (for example)...now that our teachers are slated to receive yet another pay-raise (7% to be exact...for a total of 19% in raises in the last few years) our children should be the smartest and the brightest in the universe.
That means...in Alabama (for example)...parents are going to have to make the teachers teach!

I would like to answer that question, but i don't even know where i would start with that boondoggle they call a school system.
Get rid of those teachers unions so inferior teachers can be weeded out. That would be a good start.
